Informing every decision in our work, we prioritize equity, justice and accessibility.

Guiding Principles:

  • Relationships are at the heart of what we do; they require time and lots of attention.

  • We recognize that schools are often sites of power, privilege, hierarchy, and exclusion, and we stay aware and alert of our part in that.

  • Working to decolonize education requires us to slow down, listen, learn, reflect, rethink, and prioritize caring for ourselves and each other.

  • We actively resist the tenets of white supremacy culture such as perfectionism, urgency, productivity, and a scarcity mindset. Learn more here: White Supremacy Culture

  • Unlearning systems of oppression is slow and intentional work that requires transparency, accountability, and willingness to acknowledge and learn from mistakes.

This page is a living document informed by ongoing conversations with our staff and community, and we welcome ideas and constructive feedback and acknowledge that this work can be slow, complex, and always evolving.

We celebrate the visible and invisible qualities that make each person unique and we work to actively combat harm that targets groups of people including and not limited to racism, anti-Blackness, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, ageism, classism, anti-Semitism, and fatphobia. We prioritize students who have been excluded from nature and outdoor education, including Black and Brown students, low-income students and those with disabilities. We work to dismantle systems of oppression embedded in white supremacy culture in every aspect of our work.
