Journalist and author Putsata Reang delves into Portland’s rich agricultural and diverse past with at lecture on the city’s earliest urban farmers—Chinese immigrants. On both sides of the Willamette River beginning in the late 1800s and early 1900s, Chinese urban farmers eked out a living by leveraging farming techniques from their native lands and tilled open fields in neighborhoods including Goose Hollow on the west and Albina on the east.  Join us for a fascinating lecture about the contribution of Portland’s early Chinese farmers.
