Seed Club Packing Event (Amnesia Brewing)

Come pack seeds while socializing over good food and drink! For the $25 cost of attendance, you'll receive 15 packs of organic, PNW-appropriate seeds, basic information about what makes these varieties special, and guidance on how to grow them.

Fruit Tree Planting Workshop

Now is the best time of year to learn about fruit tree selection and care. For the $40 cost of attendance, you'll gain hands-on experience selecting, planting, pruning, and caring for young fruit trees. You'll also take home a fig, apple, or pear tree of your own! For guidance on pruning your new tree, stay for the Fruit Tree Pruning workshop from 12:30-3:00 PM (register for this separately).

Fruit Tree Pruning Workshop

Now is the time of year to learn about fruit tree selection and care! Attendees will gain hands-on experience pruning established fruit trees at the Learning Garden site. To learn about young fruit tree selection and to take home a fruit tree of your own, consider registering for our Fruit Tree Planting workshop ($40) earlier in the day.

Seed Packing Session (Green Dragon)

When: Monday, March 12th from 7-8:30 pm

Where: Green Dragon Bistro and Brewpub (928 SE Belmont St)

What: We've placed our 2012 seed order, and organic veggie seeds are showing up at our door! This year we've ordered over 60 varieties of organic, open pollinated vegetable seeds suited for our PNW climate. Now it's time for you to sign up to help pack these seeds into regular packet sizes, and to take home some seeds of your own.

Registration and payment for this event includes 15 seeds packets of your choosing (see the full variety list on our Seed Club webpage), handouts with information about planting, cultivating, and saving seed, and an opportunity to socialize and learn with other Portland area gardeners. Note: Minors are welcome to sign up for our Lucky Lab and Green Dragon packing sessions, but we ask that if you are bringing young children (8+ please) that you consider signing up for our Warehouse Cafe or Eastminster Church seed packing session. Thanks!

Crop Planning Workshop

Join us at the Community Room in People's Co-op for a workshop to equip home gardeners with the tools they need to plan for a successful harvest all season long. We'll cover strategies for maximizing limited space, succession planting for sustained harvest, planning for fall and winter harvest, crop rotation ideas, and maximizing your investment through smart crop selection. Presentation will be followed by question and answer period, as well as small group work sessions.

Volunteer Work Party (Eastminster Community Garden)

Join us at Eastminster Community Garden (12505 NE Halsey St) on April 14th from 9am-12 noon. We have a lot to do to prepare for the season ahead! Help us as we prepare plots, create a composting area, and build a tool shed. This event is open to the public. We encourage you to RSVP with the form below if you plan on attending.

Join us for a volunteer work party at Eastminster Community Garden (12505 NE Halsey St) on May 19th from 9am-12 noon. We will be putting the final touches on this new community garden, and celebrating it's grand opening with lunch afterward. This event is open to the public. Volunteer Work Party and Garden Launch (Cesar Chavez Community Garden)

Join us at the Cesar Chavez Community Garden (at the intersection of SE Ellis St and SE Cesar Chavez) on May 5th from 9 am-12 noon. We will be putting the finishing touches on this new community garden, and celebrating the grand opening of the garden with a post-work party lunch. This event is open to the public.
